Steve Albini - the man behind the helm for the likes of Nirvana, The Pixies, The Manic Street Preachers and many, many more - will be the keynote speaker at Belfast City Council's second 'Output Belfast ' conference in a European exclusive.
The conference takes place at Belfast's The MAC on Thursday, 18th February and will be attended by 350 local artists, businesses and students.
Albini will address some of the issues and challenges facing the music industry and will be an opportunity to highlight the key role music and performance plays within Northern Ireland's creative industry.
"The economic and cultural contribution and potential of the creative industries is widely acknowledged," said Councillor Deirdre Hargey, Chair of the council's City Growth and Regeneration Committee
“The council’s is committed to supporting those working in
the fields of film, music, digital media and design to achieve their true
economic and creative potential. This
unique one day event is designed to provide a high quality, internationally
recognised conference and showcasing event that will help to underpin and accelerate the
development of skills, networks and market opportunities for artists and
businesses in Belfast’s burgeoning music industry sector,” she added.
Organised by Belfast
City Council in partnership Generator NI, the conference will include
panel discussions, music sessions, workshops and speed networking events as
well as keynote speeches from award-winning musicians and managers of globally
recognised talent.
At night, the emphasis will switch to live music, with a
series of free pop-up gigs at venues across the city centre - hopefully with some rock and metal!
Full details of the
